Golf Club Durability & Care to Make Your Premium Finish Last

BOS Golf has made a name thanks to the durability of all of our finishes. With the proper golf club durability and care, you are able to extend the life of your finish for a long time to come. All of our finishes are created equal when it comes to their durability, and in time they will all wear at about the same time—excluding our white poly that has a different wear pattern.

Our finishes can immediately wear after use. The rate of wear depends on multiple factors. Some factors include how well you play, if you take large or small divots, if the course is heavily fertilized, the type of grass used, the course type, and the player’s ability. Additionally, if you wipe down your clubs after use can change how quickly the finish wears.

We suggest the following steps to help prolong the new finish of your clubs:

Always Keep Your Clubs Dry – After play, use a dry clean cloth to clean the head, followed by a soft cloth with a bit of oil. We also recommend using one of our Silicone Cloths.

Never Use Acetone, Abrasives, Paint Thinner, or Chemical Cleaning Agents – Using chemical cleaning agents on your heads will harm the finish and smear or remove the paint fill.

Use a Headcover – Always store your heads in a clean/dry headcover to preserve the finish.

Avoid Damp or Very Cold Environments

Finishes That Require Maintenance

All finishes involve some maintenance. By going with one of our finishes, the advantage is that your club will feel softer. This allows you to play with a harder ball if you want to while maintaining the original feel. Our finishes allow for better control around the greens, mainly through increased feel. Some of the finishes that require more maintenance than others include:

Finishes By Material
  • Black Oxide
  • All 2X
  • III/3X Satin & Misted Finishes
  • Chocolate Finishes
  • Patina Oil Can Finish
  • Aquamarine
  • Fool’s Gold
  • Misted Fool’s Gold
  • 2X White Polymer with Raw Face or Secondary Face Finish

Copper also requires maintenance because it can tarnish. Some people, however, like the tarnished/aged look. So, depending on your personal preference, you can remove the tarnish with a copper cleaning agent or let it develop its aged look.
